Oh. My. GOODNESS!!

IT IS FINALLY TIME! MY BOOK. IT'S OUT TODAY! 😭😭😭😱😱😱

I'm so excited to finally share my book with you, dear soul!

Today is a special day. For many reasons. Not only is my book now available to you, but I am also twenty-one today. Scary, isn't it. But, it's just another year around the sun. A beautiful year of lessons and hardship and beauty... I'm grateful for every event that has happened in this time around the sun. Yes, there were tears, there was pain, there was anxiety, there was depression... but there was also beauty, there was friendship, there were lessons I needed to learn, about toxic people and how to let go. Maybe I have yet to really grasp the letting go part, but I'm working on it.

However, you didn't come here for a birthday lesson post, though I may post a bit about that later. 😉

Today, something amazing has come to fruition and I can't help but feel so shocked and amazed. A wonderful gift is finally being able to say I'm an author. It's not a title I take lightly. It's not something that I throw around. This moment, right here, is a moment I've been working on for a very long time. And sometimes, it feels less exciting because now I'm here. This moment I've been climbing to... is over. It's achieved. I've reached the summit. But... there will always be yet another mountain trail to follow into a journey.

For now, it's time to enjoy the view of the fruits of my labor.

*claps hands together loudly*

Today, I bring to you my book, How We Rise!!!

When the truth gets you killed… will you still Rise?

Raegan MacArthur is content with her simple life. But lately, her life hasn’t been all that simple. She can’t drown out the screams in the night coming from the military base up the road. And she can’t ignore the truth behind them.

Peter Daniels thought moving back to Texas with his mom for senior year was a good thing. A chance to reconnect with old friends and finally feel at home again. But his life now can never be the same as it was six years ago.

Signs of government overreach are everywhere, and an unknown- yet familiar- enemy lurks in the shadows, watching their every move. The government is clamping down tighter and tighter on anyone who resists their ways. Raegan and Peter have to make the hardest decision they've ever faced: will they go quietly to save their lives… or will they rise?

~   I sense Peter watching me, waiting for me to say something. "For you, everything is simple," I reply, my voice sullen.

"What about my life was simple? Seeing my parents split apart over moving to a new state? Seeing my sister mix into the wrong crowd? Watching her come high and drunk just to numb the pain we both suffer from? Seeing my mom take a stand and put her life on the line when we have everything to lose?" His voice has almost risen to a shout, and he catches himself and falls silent again.

~   I pull the key from my pocket, the key President Frederick Morgan gave me, along with his warning. Don't disappoint me. You have a lot to lose.

~    The sounds of screams and gunshots fills the night air. All I can do is listen. It's too close for me to sleep through, yet too far away to even begin to determine what exactly is happening. Of course, I have my theories. My imagination is wild at this time of the night. 2:43 A.M. Only the best time to be awake, I suppose.

Raegan MacArthur
Age: 16

MBTI: ISFP

Enneagram: Type 6w7

Hobbies: Reading

Appearance: Chestnut brown, blue eyes, always wearing jean shorts or pants, t-shirts, lean

Other notes: I play things safe, it's true. I don't know if my family's lives is worth all of this. I have yet to decide on that, I suppose. I know my parents say I'm meant for something great, but I'd rather keep my head down. Maybe it sounds too submissive, especially when I don't like what's going on around me. But those screams... maybe if you heard them... you'd understand my fear.

Age: 17

MBTI: ENFJ

Enneagram: Type 3w2

Hobbies: Running

Appearance: Dirty blond hair, steel-gray eyes, very fit, either in running gear or jeans,  there is no in-between

Other Notes: I will fight to the end of my life if it means things can be safe again. I hear the screams at night, the sound of those lonely souls who dared to speak up. I'm ready to fight for them. I want to fight for them. I want to keep my family safe, too. There is no safety if we keep our heads down. It's time to rise.

Age: 19

MBTI: ISTJ

Enneagram: Type 5w6

Hobbies: Computers, listening to heavy metal music. Yep, that counts.

Appearance: Dark brown hair, always tucked away in the corner, away from people, always in some type of jean pant, and flannel, or t-shirt. Headphones always.

Other Notes: Um... Kinda busy right now. Go bother someone who actually wants to do this. Why am I even here?

Nicole

MBTI: ENFJ

Enneagram: 8w7

Hobbies: Fashion, shopping, debate

Appearance: Stunning red hair, blue-green eyes, some freckles across her nose, always in the most stylish outfit. She can even rock yoga pants and an oversize shirt.

Other Notes: Many people see me as this perky, happy, friendly girl who loves shopping and her boyfriend. This is true, but there's more to me than that. I see what's going on. I know there are lies being told to us to make us comply. I don't know if there is a way to change things... but if there is... I want to know. I want to do something. We can't keep going on like this forever.

Sawyer Moore

Age: 17

MBTI: ENFP

Enneagram: 2w3

Hobbies: sports,

Appearance: Hispanic, tanned, brown hair and eyes

Other Notes: I know why things look crazy to Nicole. I know more than I ever let on, mostly because I'd rather ignore the fact that something is brewing beneath our feet. I'm not much of a fighter, I like to keep the peace. Maybe I'm ignorant. But whatever happens, I will protect my family, my friends, and my girl. Always.

Other Notes: I don't look at myself as a rebel soldier. I am a warrior, a ninja. I will fight for what I believe to be the right thing. I will honor my family and protect them at all costs. I only want this war to be over. I want peace. But sometimes it takes a war to reach peace. And I will fight in it, if only to bring about the result we all need.

JACKSON
Jackson Maverick
Age: 24

MBTI: ESFP

Enneagram: 7w8

Hobbies: Fast cars, racing

Appearance: Dark hair, dark eyes, sometimes he lets his facial hair grow, but most times not. Leather jackets and dark pants are his trademarks. Fit, not as tall as some of the others, but taller than his girl, Carissa, so that's all that matters to him.

Other Notes: Can't say I'm surprised you want to know more about me. I mean, look at me. But ladies, watch out. I'm taken and my girlfriend will ninja chop you to shreds if you look at me. *Carissa rolls her eyes in the background mumbling something under her breath about chopping him* So, I'm pretty much an open book. I'm hot to look at, I know. Oh, this jacket? It just matches my black mustang. Under this cocky, cool exterior, I am caring. I actually care sometimes.

Other Notes: I don't have time for your games. I have work to do.

Well... what do you think? Have I convinced you to check it out yet? I hope so!

This book is a piece of my soul in so many ways. The characters are my world. I love the plot, the theme... all of it. Yes, I know, it's my book. But a writer can hate their work. And this is not something I take lightly in saying I truly love and believe in this book.

And I hope you will too!

That's all for now!
